The movers were professional and able to move an extra large couch through a very tight space, that seemed nearly impossible. They worked quickly and efficiently as well.Posted on Google![]()

We had an excellent experience with our move today. The team worked from 10am to 5:15pm in extremely hot weather, and our new home has lots of stairs on a hill—definitely not an easy job. Despite that, all four movers were professional, efficient, and handled everything with great care. They stayed positive the entire time and truly went above and beyond. Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

They arrived on time, handled all of our furniture and belongings with great care, and made sure everything arrived safely at our new home. I would highly recommend them for your next move!

A water damage packout in New Jersey means removing, inventorying, and storing a home’s or business’s contents so drying and restoration can begin. Moving of America (USDOT #1601312) packs out salvageable items room by room and photographs and logs each one for your insurance claim. We hold everything in secure storage and return it after repairs. Call (201) 862-8000.
When water gets into a home, the clock starts on two things at once: the structure and everything inside it. Drying crews cannot pull baseboards, set dehumidifiers, or cut out wet drywall around a sectional sofa and forty boxes of holiday decorations. Your belongings have to come out, and they have to come out in a way your adjuster can follow months later.
Homeowners often ask whether we dry or clean their belongings, and the answer is no. A packout brings together several specialists, and knowing who is responsible for each step keeps your claim organized.
The water mitigation company removes standing water, sets up drying equipment, takes moisture readings, and tears out wet drywall, flooring, and insulation. Your insurance adjuster approves the scope of work, confirms coverage, and decides which items are a total loss. A contents restoration specialist cleans, dries, and deodorizes salvageable items like electronics, textiles, and documents. If moisture has sat long enough for mold to form, a mold remediation contractor steps in. Moving of America handles the physical side: sorting, packing, inventory, photo documentation, transport, secure storage, and pack-back.
We work alongside the restoration company and adjuster already on your claim. When an item looks compromised, we flag it, but the decision to save or discard it stays with you and your adjuster.
The source of the water determines what can be saved. The restoration industry groups water into three categories. Clean water comes from sources like a burst supply line. Gray water comes from appliances such as an overflowing washing machine or dishwasher. Contaminated water includes sewage backups and outside floodwater, and porous items it touches, like mattresses, upholstered furniture, and rugs, usually can’t be salvaged.
That’s why wet and dry items never ride together. Before anything is packed, we separate belongings into three groups. Unaffected items head to storage, salvageable items that got wet go to a contents restoration specialist, and damaged items are held and documented for your adjuster to inspect. Keeping them apart stops moisture from spreading into boxes that were perfectly dry when they left the house.
Adjusters settle contents claims from a detailed list. A line like “Kitchen, 12 boxes” doesn’t count as one, and it usually leads to a dispute.
Before any item leaves your home, we photograph it where it sits and record its room of origin and condition. Each box is numbered to a room, and nothing is discarded until your adjuster has inspected it or approved disposal in writing. You receive a copy of the complete inventory, and we use that same record to return every item when restoration is finished.
| Category | What it covers | Handling note |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture | Sofas, beds, dining sets, dressers, bookcases | Disassembled where needed, hardware bagged to the unit; upholstery exposed to contaminated water held for adjuster review |
| Electronics | TVs, computers, gaming systems, audio equipment | Never powered on after water exposure; wet units flagged for a restoration specialist |
| Documents and photos | Files, albums, certificates, keepsakes | Kept separate from damp items; wet paper routed to a document recovery specialist |
| Art, antiques, and heirlooms | Framed art, mirrors, collectibles, family pieces | Custom crated; handled the way our white glove movers treat high-value items |
| Kitchen and dining | Dishware, glassware, cookware, small appliances | Packed by room; large units coordinated with our appliance movers |
| Clothing and textiles | Closets, linens, drapes, rugs | Dry items wardrobed; affected textiles staged for restoration cleaning |
| Specialty items | Pianos, wine collections, fitness equipment | Moved by our piano movers and wine cellar movers |
| Business contents | Office furniture, files, inventory, fixtures | Handled with our commercial movers in NJ and commercial storage |
Packouts are quoted after a walkthrough, not over the phone. The amount of contents, the condition they’re in, and how long restoration will take all shape the price. You receive a written estimate your adjuster can review before work begins.
On insurance: packout and storage costs are often covered as part of a homeowners’ or renters’ contents claim, but coverage, limits, and exclusions vary by policy. Standard homeowners’ policies generally exclude flooding from rising water, which requires separate flood insurance. Confirm coverage with your adjuster before work starts.
Licensed carrier, not a broker. USDOT #1601312, MC #592337 , NJ License #39PC00096600. Our own trained crews and our own trucks handle your belongings.
Documentation built for adjusters. Room-by-room photos and a numbered inventory from the first box to the last.
Secure, climate-controlled storage. Your contents are held as one labeled lot, accessible for inspection when your adjuster needs it.
COI handled for your building. Condo associations and property managers get their certificate of insurance before crews arrive.
Family-owned in Ridgefield since 2007. Based in Bergen County, not dispatched into New Jersey from somewhere else.
One Move Advisor, start to finish. The same person from walkthrough to pack-back, so you never re-explain your claim to a new voice.
Verified track record. Reviews across Google, Angi, Houzz, and Facebook, plus BBB A+ accreditation.
Bergen County: Towns along the Hackensack River and the Meadowlands, including Little Ferry, Moonachie, and Carlstadt, see tidal and storm flooding. So do Lodi and Edgewater.
Hudson County: Garden-level and basement units in Hoboken and Jersey City take the first water in a heavy storm. Tight streets and building rules make scheduling part of the job.
Passaic and Essex Counties: Homes along the Passaic River in Paterson, Little Falls, and Wayne. Older housing stock in Montclair and Newark, where burst pipes and basement seepage are common.
Somerset, Morris, Middlesex, and beyond: Raritan River towns like Manville and Bound Brook, and full statewide coverage through our New Jersey movers network.

A packout is the organized removal of a property's contents after water damage so mitigation and repairs can proceed. Items are inventoried, photographed, packed, and stored, then returned once restoration is complete.
Often, yes, as part of a contents claim under a homeowners' or renters' policy. Coverage depends on your policy and the source of the water, since flood from rising water usually requires a separate flood policy. Confirm with your adjuster before work begins.
Call as soon as your mitigation company is on site. Our Move Advisors are available Mon–Sun, 8 AM–8 PM, at (201) 862-8000, and we schedule the walkthrough around the drying crew's timeline.
No. We are the moving and storage side of the packout. Items that need cleaning, drying, or deodorizing go to a contents restoration specialist, and we coordinate transport to and from them.
Yes. We work alongside the mitigation company and adjuster you already have and share the inventory and photos they need.
As long as your restoration takes. Short repairs may need a few weeks; full rebuilds can take months.
Yes. Every box and item is logged to its room of origin, and the pack-back follows that same inventory.
Every packout starts with a walkthrough of the property, because an accurate estimate can’t come from a phone call and a guess.
