Moving abroad is a big step for anyone. If you are searching for an international moving company, it is exciting but also very hard because there is so much to do with shipping, customs, and all the paperwork. People move for jobs, retirement, army, or just to try something new, but if you do not pick the right movers, it can get very difficult and stressful. The right company makes it much easier.
Moving of America started helping people move overseas in 2007. We have done thousands of moves to many countries. We know it is not easy to move to another country because there is a lot of paperwork, customs, and shipping that takes weeks, not just hours. Our team is always ready to help with all these things.
So what makes us different from other movers? We offer overseas moving services that handle everything from your home here to your new place in another country. We pack your things for the long trip, do the customs papers, ship by sea or air, and even help you unpack when you get there. We also have insurance to keep your stuff safe the whole way.
We help people move almost anywhere in the world. Our international relocation services team has friends and partners in more than 180 countries, so if you are going to London, Tokyo, Sydney, Dubai, or Sao Paulo, we can help. We only work with good agents who do things the right way, so you get the same service here and in your new country.
From the first call to the last box at your new place, our team is with you. We offer door-to-door international moving, so you know what to expect, give you a real timeline, and show you all the prices up front. We help you at every step. Just call us at 201-862-8000, and we will discuss your move and provide a free quote.
Moving overseas is not easy at all, it is much more complicated than just moving in the US. That is why so many people trust Moving of America when they need to move their stuff to another country.
We at Moving of America have all the licenses you need for international moving, like from the FMC and the US Department of Transportation. This is not just paperwork; it means we follow all the rules and that your stuff is protected. We specialize in international household goods shipping, and you get legal protection that you just don’t get with random movers who don’t have these licenses.
Our team has been doing international moves for more than 10 years, so they know all the small details about customs and what you can or can’t bring. We also handle international furniture shipping for your move. They help you with your taxes and make sure your move doesn’t get stuck due to holidays or port issues. With us, you don’t have to worry about mistakes that can cost you a lot of money or time.
We don’t just ship your things like other companies do. If you need a moving company for overseas relocation, Moving of America does everything from packing your stuff at your house in the US, using special packing materials, to getting it to the port, handling all the paperwork, and then making sure it gets to your new home in another country. We even unpack for you if you want.
With us, you don’t have to talk to a bunch of different companies in different countries. You just talk to us, and we handle everything, so you don’t have to worry about language problems or time zones. We take care of your move from start to finish.
When you move to another country, you need people you can trust on the other side. We have spent years finding good partners in more than 180 countries. These are not just some companies we found online, they are real movers we know and have worked with many times.
Our partners at your new country help with customs, deliver your things to your new home, help with paperwork, and talk to you in English so you always know what’s going on. No matter if you are moving to a big city or a small town, you get the same good service.
The price for moving overseas depends on where you are going, how much stuff you have, and what services you need. As a licensed international moving company, we provide a clear estimate that includes every cost, such as packing, shipping, delivery, and insurance. So you know what you are paying for, and there are no surprise charges when your things arrive.
Moving to another country is risky because your things go a long way and many people handle them. If you’re seeking the best international movers in the USA, that’s why we offer full insurance that covers your stuff from the time we pick it up in the US until it reaches your new home. This is not just basic insurance; it covers the full value of your things.
It’s Your Move, Done Right.
Over the decades we’ve cared for our customers’ valuables, we’ve learned that not every move is the same. That’s why we offer flexible moving packages so you can get exactly what you need, nothing more.

Moving of America is doing all kinds of international moving jobs, including long distance international movers. We try to take care of everything for you when you are moving to another country. From the first box you pack to the last piece of furniture in your new place, we are there to help and make sure nothing is missed.
Ocean freight is the cheapest way to send your stuff to another country, good if you are moving your whole house or are not in a rush. We have two ways to do ocean shipping:
Full Container Load (FCL) means you get your own 20 or 40-foot container. This is best if you have a large house (3 or more bedrooms). It is faster because you don’t have to wait for other people’s stuff, and your things are safer because they are loaded and unloaded only once. You can even put your car in the same container.
Less than Container Load (LCL) is when your things go in a container with other people’s stuff. You pay only for the space you use. This is good if you have a small move (like 1 or 2 bedrooms) and you are not in a hurry. We still pack and handle everything for you.
How long it takes depends on where you are moving. Europe is about 4 to 6 weeks, Asia 5 to 8 weeks, Australia 6 to 10 weeks, South America 4 to 8 weeks, Middle East 5 to 7 weeks, and Africa 6 to 9 weeks. This is from start to finish, including customs and delivery to your new home.
If you need your things fast and don’t mind paying more, air freight international moving is the way to go. Usually your stuff gets there in 5 to 14 days, depending where you are moving. This is good if you are in a hurry, or for work moves, or if you want to send some important things first, and the rest can come later by sea.
Air freight is 3 to 5 times more expensive than ocean, but it is much faster. If you want international movers for sea freight, use air freight for things you need right away, like clothes, electronics, or papers. It is also good for valuable stuff or if you need to move quickly for a job or house. Sometimes people send the important things by air and the rest of the furniture by sea.
With our door-to-door service, we take care of your move from your home in the US to your new place in another country. We pack everything, load it, take it to the port, handle all the paperwork and customs, ship it by sea or air, clear customs at the other end, deliver to your new home, and even unpack for you.
With door-to-door, you don’t have to deal with lots of different companies or worry about who is doing what. We handle everything from start to finish, and you get one price for the whole job. You don’t need to find movers in the new country or figure out customs; we do it all.
Moving to another country means a lot of paperwork and customs stuff. We provide customs clearance moving services, taking care of everything for you, including filling out customs forms, making lists of your belongings, obtaining export permits, clearing your belongings in the new country, informing you about any taxes, and speaking with the customs officials.
Every country has its own rules and banned items. Our team knows what is needed and makes sure your items get through customs without issues, so you don’t face delays or fines.
Packing for international moves is different and requires stronger packing than for normal moves. We specialize in international packing and shipping services and use special boxes, ample padding, plastic wrap for ocean shipping, custom crates for high-value items, and extra care for electronics and breakables.
International packing is not the same as local moves because your things are on the way for a long time, get moved around a lot, and can get hot or wet. Our packers know all this and pack your things so they don’t get damaged.
Sometimes you need to store your belongings because your new home isn’t ready yet. We provide international moving and storage services, including safe storage in the US before shipping, at the port in the new country, or for as long as you need. Our storage is climate-controlled, so your things stay safe, no matter how long you need.
We at Moving of America have made the international moving process simple and easy to follow, so you know what is going on every step of the way. If you pick us for your move overseas, here is what you can expect from us.
Just call us at 201-862-8000 and talk to one of our moving guys who knows about international moves. We will ask you about where you are moving, what stuff you want to take, if you want to ship by ocean or air, when you want to move, and if you have any special needs or questions about customs. We try to cover everything so you don’t have to worry.
For these big moves, we like to do a survey at your place or even on video, so we can see what you have and give you a good price. This helps us provide an international moving cost estimate. Our team will check your things, see if anything needs special care, talk about what you can or can’t take to your new country, and then give you a full estimate with all the costs. No surprises.
After you book your move with us, we start planning everything for you. Our international moving logistics company gives you your own moving coordinator who will make a plan from start to finish, help with all the paperwork for customs, talk to our people at your new place, set up the shipping, and keep you in the loop at every step.
Moving to another country is a lot more work than just moving across town. We take care of the hard parts so you can think about your visa, where you will live, schools, and getting used to your new place.
When it’s time to pack, our team comes with all the right packing stuff for moving overseas. We pack your things the right way, make lists for customs, take photos of expensive things for insurance, and use the right boxes and wrapping for ocean or air. Usually, we finish packing in 1 to 3 days, depending on how much you have.
Packing for an international move is super important because your things have to travel far and go through customs. We know this part is serious, and we do it right so your stuff is safe and everything goes smooth.
After we pack, we load your things and take them to the port. If you are shipping by ocean, we put your stuff in containers at our place or at the port. For international freight forwarding movers, if it’s by air, we get it to the airport and handle the cargo. We do all the paperwork for US customs, talk to the shipping companies or airlines, and make sure your things are ready to go overseas.
When your shipment leaves, we give you tracking and keep you updated the whole way. You will know when your container is on the ship, when it gets to your new country, and when customs starts checking it.
When your things reach your new country, our partners there take care of the rest. They handle customs, pay any taxes or fees (we tell you about these before), get your things from the port to your new home, bring everything inside, and even help unpack if you want.
Your Moving of America coordinator is with you the whole way, talking to you and our team at your new place, fixing any problems, and making sure you are happy with your move.
Certain items deserve more than just careful handling. Whether it’s a grand piano, delicate chandelier, or fine art, our trained professionals use specialized equipment and proven techniques to ensure your most valuable possessions are moved safely and securely.
International moving cost is not the same for everyone, it really depends on a lot of things. Here is what can make your moving budget go up or down:
How much stuff you have (like how many boxes or furniture), where you are moving to, how far it is, if you want to ship by ocean or air, if you need packing help, what kind of insurance you want, the charges at the port, customs taxes, and how far your new place is from the port, all these things will change your moving cost.
Most of the time, moving overseas with ocean shipping can be anywhere from 5,000 to 15,000 dollars, but it really depends on how much you are moving and where. If you are looking for affordable international movers, a small apartment, like 1 bedroom, can be 3,000 to 6,000 dollars. For a medium home, like 2 or 3 bedrooms, it is usually 7,000 to 12,000 dollars. If you have a big house, 4 bedrooms or more, it can go up to 12,000 to 20,000 dollars or even more sometimes.
For ocean shipping, the price depends on the size of the container or how much space you use. If you get a 20-foot container (good for 2 or 3 bedrooms), it can be 4,000 to 8,000 dollars, but it depends where you are going. A 40-foot container (for 3 or 4 bedrooms) is about 6,000 to 12,000 dollars. International container shipping cost is calculated if you don’t have enough stuff for a whole container, you pay by the cubic foot, usually 40 to 80 dollars for each cubic foot, again depending on where you are moving.
Air shipping is much more expensive, like 3 to 5 times more than ocean, but it is much faster, you get your things in 5 to 14 days instead of waiting 4 to 10 weeks. Air freight charges by weight, usually 4 to 8 dollars per kilo. It is good if you have only a few things, or something expensive, or if you need your stuff really fast and don’t care about the price.
There are also extra costs besides just shipping. Customs and taxes are different in every country, some places don’t charge anything for used stuff, but some can charge 10 to 20 percent. Delivery to your new home depends how far it is from the port. International relocation pricing can be affected if your new place is not ready, you might have to pay for storage. Insurance is usually 2 to 4 percent of what you say your things are worth. If you want professional packing, that can be another 1,000 to 3,000 dollars, depending on how big your home is.
We always give you a full estimate with all the costs, so you know what you are paying for and can plan your budget. Full service international movers cost includes packing, shipping, customs, delivery, and insurance. Some other movers only tell you the basic shipping price and then later add a lot of extra charges, but we show you everything in writing from the start.
Moving of America is doing international moves now to almost everywhere, we got agents in more than 180 countries and can help you move to six continents. Here are the main places we move people to:
We are moving people all the time to Europe, like UK (London, Manchester, Edinburgh), Germany (Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt), France (Paris, Lyon, Nice), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia), Italy (Rome, Milan, Florence), Netherlands (Amsterdam, Rotterdam), Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva), Ireland (Dublin, Cork), Portugal (Lisbon, Porto) and pretty much anywhere else in Europe you want to go.
Most of the time, for Europe, we use ocean freight, and it takes about 4 to 6 weeks. We handle all customs and VAT for you so you don’t have to worry.
We also help people move to Asia a lot, like Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama), China (Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong), Singapore, South Korea (Seoul, Busan), Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai), India (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore), UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Philippines (Manila), Indonesia (Jakarta) and more.
For Asia, it’s usually 5 to 8 weeks by sea or 7 to 14 days by air freight. We handle all the customs paperwork and work with our agents there, so you don’t have to stress.
We also move people to Canada and Mexico, including Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa, and Mexico City, as well as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen. Most of these moves are by ground, and we do the customs for you, so it’s not a headache.
We can help you move to Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide) and New Zealand (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch) too. It usually takes 6 to 10 weeks by sea, and there are many biosecurity and quarantine rules, but our team knows how to handle all that.
We also do moves to the Middle East, like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Israel, and other Gulf countries. For Africa, we go to South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, and more. There’s a lot of paperwork for these but our team knows what to do.
We help people move to Central America (Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala) and South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador) too. It takes about 4 to 8 weeks by sea, and our local agents handle customs, so it’s easier for you.

International moving costs can be very different depending on where you are going, how much stuff you have, and how you want to ship it. Usually, if you use ocean freight, it can be anywhere from 5,000 to 15,000 dollars for a normal house move. If you have a small 1-bedroom apartment, it can be 3,000 to 6,000 dollars. For a medium 2 or 3 bedroom house, it is about 7,000 to 12,000 dollars. If you have a big house with 4 or more bedrooms, it can go up to 12,000 to 20,000 dollars or even more sometimes.
Air freight is much faster but it costs 3 to 5 times more than ocean shipping. Most people use ocean freight for moving all their things, but sometimes they use air freight if they need something important or urgent to arrive quickly. We always give you a full estimate in writing, showing all the costs like packing, shipping, customs, delivery, and insurance, so you know what you are paying for.
You can ship most of your household things like furniture, appliances, clothes, books, kitchen stuff, electronics, and your personal things. But there are some things you cannot send because of the rules in different countries. Things like dangerous materials, guns and bullets (sometimes you need a permit), food that goes bad, plants, seeds, some medicines, and other things that some countries do not allow.me countries restrict alcohol, used mattresses, or certain electronics. Our international moving specialists know these requirements and will review your inventory to identify any problematic items before packing begins.
How long it takes to move your things overseas depends on how you ship and where you are going. If you use ocean freight, it usually takes 4 to 10 weeks from when we pick up your stuff in the USA to when it gets to your new place. For Europe it is about 4 to 6 weeks, Asia is 5 to 8 weeks, Australia is 6 to 10 weeks, South America is 4 to 8 weeks, and Africa is 6 to 9 weeks. This includes everything like moving your things to the port, shipping, customs, and delivery.
Air freight is much quicker, usually 5 to 14 days. But it costs a lot more, so most people only use it for a few important things, not for everything. Your moving coordinator will tell you exactly how long it will take for your move, depending on where you are going and how you want to ship.
Yes, we at Moving of America take care of all the customs paperwork and steps, both when your things leave the USA and when they arrive in the new country. We fill out all the forms, make lists of your things for customs, talk to the customs people at your destination, tell you about any taxes or duties, and handle all the talking with customs for you.
Customs clearance is one of the hardest parts of moving to another country. If the paperwork is wrong, it can cause big delays or extra costs. We have done this in more than 180 countries, so we know how to get your things through customs and delivered on time.
If you want to move your whole house, save money, or you have 6 to 10 weeks to wait, or if you want to ship your car with your things, ocean freight is the best way. It is the cheapest way to move overseas and works for most people.
If you need your things fast, have a tight deadline, or just want to send a few important things quickly, or if your company is paying, then air freight is good. It costs 3 to 5 times more than ocean freight but your things arrive in 5 to 14 days instead of waiting weeks.
A lot of people do both, sending the important things by air and the rest by ocean freight. This way you get what you need fast and still save money on the big move.
We really recommend getting insurance for your international move, and sometimes the country you are moving to will make you get it. Your things go thousands of miles, get handled by many people, go on ships or planes, go through customs, and there is a lot more risk than just moving in the USA.
The basic insurance only pays 60 cents per pound for each item, which is not enough if you have valuable things. We always tell people to get full insurance that covers everything, from when we pick up your things in the USA until they arrive at your new home. It usually costs 2 to 4 percent of what your things are worth.
With this insurance, you do not have to worry. If something happens to your things while moving overseas, you are covered. Since moving internationally costs a lot, it is smart to get good insurance.
Try to start planning 3 or 4 months before you move if you can. Check the rules for your new country and what you cannot bring. Go through your things and decide what to ship, what to sell, and what to give away. Get your important papers together like passports, visas, work permits, and medical records. Tell your bank, credit card, and insurance companies that you are moving overseas.
Call us at Moving of America for a free quote and to talk about your move. Set your moving date and book your services. Start using up food and things you cannot ship. Take pictures of your valuable things for insurance. Plan your travel so it matches when your things will arrive. Your moving coordinator will give you a checklist made just for your move and your new country.
Yes, we can help you ship your car, motorcycle, boat, or RV overseas. Usually, vehicles go in containers, sometimes with your other things to save money, or on special ships just for vehicles. Every country has its own rules for bringing in vehicles, like emissions, safety, taxes, and permits.
The cost to ship a vehicle depends on where you are going and how big your vehicle is. We offer international auto shipping and moving, and will help you decide if it is better to ship your car or just sell it here and buy one in your new country. Our team can give you a quote for shipping and tell you about the rules in your new country.
