We chose Moving of America because of the good reviews, Joey the project manager was great, our local NJ pickup experience was genuinely excellent.. crew was professional, efficient, careful with our belongings, and overall gave us confidence that we had chosen the right company for our interstate move.

Unfortunately, the interstate portion of the move completely ruined that experience.

What we later discovered is that interstate moves are clearly not handled the same way as their local operations, despite being led to believe the move would remain within their own team. Once our shipment left NJ, communication, accountability, and overall professionalism changed.

By that point, Moving of America had already collected the majority of the payment, while the remaining balance was due to the company handling the delivery.

At delivery, the driver who was contracted out called me and said he didn’t think he could get into the neighborhood and that he would have to go and get a shuttle. I asked him how many guys he had, he indicated 2.. I said why don’t we use my own smaller moving truck instead, and the driver confirmed and to meet him a mile from our house with our truck.

Only after we arrived at the transfer point, no helpers were there- only the driver and at that point, we were informed for the first time that because we used our own truck, delivery labor was cancelled entirely. This was never disclosed beforehand. No revised agreement or change in scope was provided or signed. We were suddenly left responsible for unloading, unwrapping, and moving an entire household into our home ourselves after arriving in our new state only hours earlier with two young children.

The driver would not transfer the belongings into our truck until payment was made, despite the agreed delivery services no longer being performed as originally contracted.

Because everything remained wrapped at the transfer point, there was no realistic ability to inspect our belongings for damage there. After completing the move ourselves and removing the wrapping inside the home, before having to return all of the moving blankets because the driver said MofA would charge him if he didn’t return all of them, we discovered damage to a dresser and mirror.

What has been most disappointing is how the situation was handled afterward. Our move took place in February, and after more than a month of detailed back-and-forth communication attempting to resolve this professionally, the company ultimately stopped responding altogether. Multiple requests for the recorded phone call from the day of delivery were ignored. Formal complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, yet even after those filings there was still no meaningful effort to resolve the situation.

The only offer ever made was a $300 “goodwill” payment intended to cover both the damaged items and the significant delivery issues. Within the release documents for their “goodwill” offer you essentially waive your rights from later pursuing any public reviews related to your dispute and the company is not deemed responsible for anything, which is ironic because no responsibility was taken anyway. They provided no willingness to reasonably negotiate, no meaningful counteroffer, and no acknowledgment of the fact that the contracted delivery services were never actually completed.

This review is not being written simply because issues occurred during a move — things happen stuff can break. It is being written because of the lack of transparency, the last-minute change in delivery execution, the refusal to provide requested documentation, and the complete lack of accountability once the interstate portion began.

The local NJ team was genuinely very good, which honestly makes this even more disappointing. If you are considering Moving of America for an interstate move I genuinely hope your experience is much better then ours because our interstate experience was very different from what was represented upfront.

Somerset County Left side We Move Everyone Everything Everywhere 2000 X 1300

Moving of America is a licensed carrier serving all 21 municipalities in Somerset County, New Jersey. As an FMCSA-registered carrier, not a broker, Moving of America provides binding estimates, estate home pre-move site surveys, corporate relocation billing documentation, and full local and long-distance moving service throughout Somerset County. If you’re searching for Somerset County movers or want to hire movers in Somerset County for a seamless experience, our credentials are verified at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov and through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs at njconsumeraffairs.gov. Your crew is our crew, your truck is our truck, and your price is confirmed in writing before anyone loads a single item.

Somerset County is not a one-size-fits-all moving market. A concert grand piano on a long Bedminster driveway with a narrow gate clearance is a fundamentally different job from a corporate relocation from a Bridgewater Route 22 apartment, which requires a formal, binding estimate for HR reimbursement. A Raritan River flood-displaced family in Bound Brook who needs emergency storage-in-transit is a different call than a Bernardsville family that has been planning their downsizing move for six months. Moving of America handles all of them as their own logistical problems, not as variations on a standard residential template.

Whether you are moving an estate home in Far Hills, relocating for a corporate assignment in Bridgewater, or moving a townhome in Hillsborough for the first time, the process starts the same way: a free binding estimate with no obligation, no brokers, and a callback within 2 hours. Request one at Get a free moving estimate or call directly.

Why Somerset County Residents Choose Moving of America

Somerset County’s moving market has a broker problem. Too many platforms present as movers, accept the booking, and assign a subcontracted crew that the customer has never vetted. For estate clients with high-value inventories, corporate clients with HR documentation requirements, and any customer who has asked, ‘I don’t trust just anyone with this move, that arrangement carries real financial and operational risk. When considering a Somerset County moving company, always look for licensed and insured movers Somerset County, NJ. Purpose-built equipmentMoving of America answers that question with verifiable credentials, binding pricing, and a crew that is accountable from the first call to the last box.

Moving of America Licensed Carrier vs. Broker / Aggregator Platform

    • Who shows up on move day? Our crew, our truck. No subcontracting, no third-party handoffs. With brokers, the customer has no relationship with the actual mover.
    • Price guarantee? The binding estimate is locked in writing before move day, with no weight or time revisions. Brokers typically provide non-binding estimates that are subject to change.
    • Corporate billing documentation? Formal binding estimate plus invoice-ready document, HR and relocation coordinator ready. Brokers vary by subcontractor, often causing HR reimbursement disputes.
    • Estate and high-value item handling? Purpose-built equipment, pre-move site survey available, and trained crew assignment. Brokers rely on standard residential gear, and specialty capability is unverified.
    • Licensed and verified? Moving of America has NJ License #39PC00096600 and USDOT #1601312, which are verifiable at the state and federal levels. With brokers, the carrier identity is often disclosed only after booking.

What Moving of America Knows About Moving in Somerset County

Somerset County’s moving market segments require fundamentally different operational knowledge. A Bridgewater corporate relocation needs COI documentation and invoice-ready billing. A Bedminster estate move needs a pre-site survey and gate clearance assessment. A Bound Brook flood displacement needs rapid storage-in-transit, not a 30-day lead-time booking process. The three County Knowledge Blocks below represent the operational specifics that no competitor page in this market addresses.

Estate Home Access and High-Value Inventory Handling

Bedminster, Far Hills, Peapack-Gladstone, and Bernardsville sit at the upper end of New Jersey’s residential real estate market. The properties here are not standard residential moves: long private driveways, gated entry points with tight clearances, outbuildings, and inventories that include concert grand pianos, gallery-quality artwork, antique furniture collections, wine rooms, and custom installations. For these complex situations, residential movers Somerset County, NJ, and furniture movers Somerset County, NJ are essential. A standard residential crew with standard residential equipment is the wrong tool for this job.

Moving of America conducts pre-move site surveys for estate properties that flag access and handling requirements before move day. We assess driveway approach, gate clearance, truck-size suitability, staircase geometry, and any structural factors that affect loading sequence. Nothing is improvised on move day. If your driveway gate is 10 feet wide and your furniture requires wide-load positioning, we know that before the truck leaves the depot.

Pre-move site survey (Bedminster, Far Hills, Bernardsville): assesses driveway access, gate clearances, truck sizing, and loading logistics before move day. Recommended for all properties over 4,000 sq ft or with inventories that include specialty items.

High-value inventory handling: pianos, antiques, original artwork, wine storage, and custom furniture moved with purpose-built equipment. Custom crating available for items that cannot be secured with standard wrapping.

Floor, wall, and surface protection: felt pads, carpet runners, door frame padding, and banister wraps installed throughout, critical in homes with hardwood floors, original millwork, and plaster walls common in Somerset Hills estates.

Full disassembly and reassembly of beds, sectionals, modular wall units, and built-ins, with professional reconnection at the destination. No ‘customer reassembles’ fine print.

Bridgewater Corporate Relocation and HR Documentation

The Route 22 and I-287 corridor in Bridgewater is one of New Jersey’s most active corporate relocation zones. Pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services offices, and technology firms regularly relocate employees to and from Somerset County. These are not standard residential bookings. The corporate relocation client has a relocation management company or HR coordinator in the loop, and that coordinator needs documentation that a rough quote cannot produce.

Moving of America issues formal binding estimates with invoice-ready documentation as standard for corporate relocation clients. We submit COI certificates to corporate campus facilities management in advance and communicate directly with third-party relocation management companies when the employer’s process requires it. The Bridgewater corporate relocation client does not need to coordinate between their HR department and their mover. We handle that handoff.

Binding estimates for HR reimbursement: written, locked price confirmed before move day, the format required by most corporate relocation management companies for clean reimbursement processing.

COI submission to corporate campuses: Certificate of Insurance formatted to building facilities management specifications and submitted in advance for Bridgewater campus addresses and any corporate campus receiving a delivery.

Relocation coordinator communication: direct communication with third-party relocation management companies on the client’s behalf, reducing the employee’s coordination burden during an already complex transition.

After-hours and weekend scheduling: for employees with employer-dictated relocation windows or who need to minimize schedule disruption during the transition.

Raritan River Flood Displacement and HOA Move-In Coordination

Bound Brook and Manville sit on the Raritan River floodplain and have a documented history of flooding that displaces residents with little warning. The flood-displaced customer has no advance planning window. They need rapid pickup, immediate storage, and a re-delivery process that follows a timeline they cannot predict. Moving of America handles this as a direct emergency response rather than a standard 30-day booking.

Separately, Somerset County’s growing HOA and gated community stock, particularly in Bernards Township, Warren Township, and Bedminster, imposes move-in hour windows, loading zone restrictions, and COI requirements that unprepared movers handle badly on the day of the move. These logistics are handled by our move coordinators in advance, not discovered upon arrival on move day.

Emergency storage-in-transit for flood displacement: Bound Brook and Manville residents in active displacement situations should call (201) 862-8000 directly and do not wait for an online form. Rapid pickup and secure storage available. See storage-in-transit options for details.

HOA move-in window compliance (Bernards Township, Warren, Bedminster): move-in hour restrictions, loading zone rules, and facilities coordinator approvals are handled by your move coordinator before your move date, not improvised on arrival.

COI submission for HOA and gated communities: Certificate of Insurance formatted to community specifications and delivered to HOA management at least one week before your move date.

Elevator reservations (Bridgewater and Somerville mid-rise buildings): coordinated for Somerset County properties where elevator access requires advance booking with building management.

Our Step-by-Step Local Moving Process in Somerset County

Every Moving of America job in Somerset County follows a defined five-step process.

Somerset County What Somerset County Moving and Storage Can Do For You 1100 X 700

We assess your home’s contents through an in-home visit or a video walk-through and issue a written, binding estimate. For estate properties in Bedminster, Far Hills, or Bernardsville or any property with specialty items, we recommend an in-person pre-move survey. Your total is locked in writing. If the move takes longer than we estimated, you pay the estimate. For an accurate movers Somerset County quote or to get a moving quote Somerset County, request your free estimate

Your dedicated move coordinator handles all pre-move logistics: HOA or building management communication, COI submissions, loading-hour compliance, and route planning via I-287, Route 22, or Route 206, depending on your origin and destination within Somerset County. For corporate relocation clients, we coordinate directly with your relocation management company or HR contact and prepare the documentation package at this stage.

Full-service packing NJ for a Somerset County home means room-by-room inventory with a numbered box log before loading begins. Estate clients receive a separate inventory section for specialty items like pianos, artwork, wine storage, and antiques, with individual handling protocols documented for each. Nothing arrives at the destination unaccounted for.

On move day, our crew arrives within the agreed-upon window with a fully equipped truck, blankets, dollies, stretch wrap, wardrobe boxes, and specialty equipment. For estate moves, we follow the pre-move inventory list item by item. For long-distance moves, your load is sealed and documented before departure from Somerset County. Your belongings do not share truck space with another customer’s load.

At your destination, we unload to your room, reassemble any disassembled furniture, place items where you want them, and remove packing materials upon request. The job is not complete until you confirm everything is in place.

How Much Does Moving in Somerset County Cost?

Moving costs in Somerset County can fluctuate widely, reflecting the area’s unique mix of standard residential relocations and more complex estate moves. Whether you’re moving from a one-bedroom apartment in Hillsborough or coordinating a full estate transfer in Far Hills, it’s essential to understand the key factors that drive pricing in this market. Searching for movers Somerset County cost or moving cost Somerset County NJ, is common as you budget confidently and avoid surprises on move day. Below, we’ll break down the main cost variables, so you can budget confidently and avoid surprises on move day.

What Affects the Price in Somerset County

Somerset County moves vary more in price than most NJ counties because the market spans two very different segments: standard residential moves in Hillsborough and Raritan, and estate-grade moves in Bedminster and Far Hills that require pre-surveys, specialty equipment, and extended crew time. The factors below determine where your move lands in that range.

    • Home size and inventory scope: Crew size and truck assignment are matched to your inventory. Estate properties are assessed during the in-person site survey, and a crew is assigned based on the complexity of what we find, not on a standard formula.
    • Specialty items: Pianos, gun safes, fine art, wine storage, and large antiques require rated equipment and an experienced crew. These are priced at the estimate stage, never discovered on move day.
    • Access conditions: Long private driveways, gated entry points, and narrow approach roads in Bedminster and Far Hills are assessed during the pre-move site survey. Access complexity is built into the binding estimate, not added as a surcharge on move day.
    • Corporate relocation documentation: Formal binding estimates with invoice-ready documentation are included at no additional charge for corporate relocation clients. COI submission is also included.
    • Distance and move type: Local Somerset County moves (under 50 miles) are priced by crew size and hours. Long-distance moves (interstate) are priced by weight and distance and locked in as a binding estimate. For both local and long-distance movers Somerset County provide options tailored to your needs.

Move Type: Estimated Range (Confirm Before Publishing)

For local moves within Somerset County, the estimated price range for 1-bedroom or studio apartments, 2-bedroom units, and 3-bedroom homes will be confirmed prior to publishing. For estate or high-value homes, pricing is quoted individually following an in-person site survey to ensure accuracy. Corporate relocations in the Bridgewater corridor come with a binding estimate and include formal invoice documentation. For long-distance moves originating in Somerset County, quotes are provided individually, with binding estimates determined based on the total weight and distance of the move.

Why a Written Binding Estimate Protects You

A binding estimate is a legal commitment; your total is locked in writing before the first item is loaded. Moving of America cannot revise it at delivery because the piano took longer to wrap, or the driveway approach added 20 minutes, or the job ran long. In an estate market where the financial stakes of a move are high and in a corporate relocation market where HR reimbursement depends on accurate documentation, a binding estimate is not a convenience. It is the only structure that eliminates move-day financial risk.

For corporate relocation clients, a binding estimate is typically required by the relocation management company for clean reimbursement. A non-binding estimate creates documentation gaps that can lead to disputes among the employee, the employer, and the carrier. Moving of America issues formal binding estimates with invoice-ready documentation as standard, not on request.

Towns and Cities We Serve in Somerset County

Moving of America serves all 21 municipalities in Somerset County, from high-value estate communities in the Somerset Hills to growing suburban developments in Hillsborough and Montgomery Township, and from the Route 22 corporate corridor in Bridgewater to the Raritan River communities of Bound Brook and Manville.

    Corporate Corridor and County Seat

    • Bridgewater: The Route 22 and I-287 corporate corridor, pharmaceutical campuses, financial services offices, and Bridgewater Commons-area residential. High volume of employer-assisted relocations, Bridgewater Town Center apartment transitions, and townhome upgrades. Corporate billing documentation and campus COI submission are handled routinely. For those looking to book movers Somerset County NJ, or find same day movers Somerset County, we’re ready to assist.
    • Somerville (County Seat): Dense residential neighborhoods, Main Street mixed-use buildings, and apartment stock near the Somerville NJ Transit station. Street-level truck staging is required for addresses in downtown Somerville.
    • Bound Brook and Manville: Raritan River flood plain communities with a documented displacement history. Emergency storage-in-transit available on short notice call (201) 862-8000 directly if you are in an active flooding situation. For last-minute movers Somerset County or emergency movers Somerset County NJ, our team is here to provide rapid support.
    • Raritan, Branchburg, and North Plainfield: Mid-county communities along the I-287 corridor, efficient truck routing, a high proportion of first-time homebuyers, and apartment-to-townhome transition moves.

    Somerset Hills and Estate Communities

    • Bedminster Township and Far Hills: Large-lot estate properties with long driveways, gated entry points, and high-value inventories. Pre-move site surveys are available and recommended. Gate clearance and truck access are assessed before scheduling, not on move day.
    • Peapack-Gladstone and Bernardsville: Historic estate communities with properties that require custom logistics: narrow approach roads, mature tree lines, and multi-building estates. Bernardsville music rooms frequently contain grand pianos, standard equipment.
    • Bernards Township (Basking Ridge): Large suburban homes and HOA communities along the Liberty Corner Road and Lyons Road corridors. Move-in hour restrictions in gated Basking Ridge developments are coordinated in advance.

    Suburban and Growth Communities

    • Hillsborough Township: One of Somerset County’s fastest-growing residential communities, with significant new construction along Route 206 and Amwell Road. Common storage-in-transit situation as new homes close on rolling timelines. For apartment movers Somerset County NJ or local movers Somerset County NJ,
    • Warren Township: Affluent suburban community along Mountain Boulevard and King George Road. Large homes, multiple-car garages, and established landscaping, all require careful truck staging on move day.
    • Montgomery Township: Top-rated school district driving strong family in-migration. Active buyer market with frequent moves from Middlesex and Mercer counties into Montgomery Township single-family homes.
    • Green Brook, Watchung, and Rocky Hill: Smaller Somerset communities with straightforward suburban access. Efficient truck routing via I-287 and Route 22.
    • Millstone Township, Millstone Borough, and South Bound Brook: Southern Somerset residential communities with Route 27 and Route 206 access, apartment transitions, and smaller-scale residential moves common.
