The movers were professional and able to move an extra large couch through a very tight space, that seemed nearly impossible. They worked quickly and efficiently as well.Posted on Google![]()

A friend recommended Moving of America, and choosing them was one of the best decisions I made. The team worked efficiently, and my foreman made sure everything was handled properly, wrapped carefully, and completed according to my requests. I highly recommend Moving of America. A special thank-you to Joey for his amazing attention and support, from the very first phone call until the end of my move.Posted on Google![]()

We had an excellent experience with our move today. The team worked from 10am to 5:15pm in extremely hot weather, and our new home has lots of stairs on a hill—definitely not an easy job. Despite that, all four movers were professional, efficient, and handled everything with great care. They stayed positive the entire time and truly went above and beyond. Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Moving of America! The entire team was professional, friendly, careful, and incredibly hardworking from start to finish. They arrived on time, handled all of our furniture and belongings with great care, and made sure everything arrived safely at our new home. I would highly recommend them for your next move!

Luxury residence movers in New Jersey relocate households in and out of high-rise condos, full-service rental buildings, and estate homes where the building sets the rules. Moving of America (USDOT #1601312) handles the Certificate of Insurance, elevator reservations, loading dock access, and common-area protection at both addresses, then places every piece where you want it. Luxury moves are quoted after an in-home or virtual walkthrough. Call (201) 862-8000.
Moving into a luxury building isn’t just a standard apartment move with nicer furniture. It’s a series of building approvals, and your move date depends on them. Moving of America is a licensed carrier (USDOT #1601312, NJ License #39PC00096600), not a broker, and we have moved New Jersey and New York households since 2007. What makes the difference is that we build a building coordination plan before we touch a single box. COI submission, elevator booking, dock scheduling, and protection each get a slot, and the plan is built around the move windows both buildings allow. If your move also includes fine art or a piano, our white glove movers handle that part of the same project, and our residential movers cover the rest of the household.
What the Building Controls, and What Your Mover Should Handle
The most common thing we hear from luxury residents is some version of this: “Nobody told me the building needed paperwork from the mover.” So we tell you first, in writing, before you book.
In a managed building, the building decides who comes in, when, through which entrance, and on what terms. A mover can’t negotiate those rules on move day. A mover who shows up without the right paperwork or during the wrong window will be turned away at the concierge desk.
Here is the division of responsibility we put in writing on every luxury building estimate:
Building management: sets the move policy, approves the COI, assigns the freight elevator and loading dock time, and may require a refundable damage deposit.
You, the resident: tell us your move date, sign any move-in or move-out forms the building requires directly from residents, and pay any building deposit.
Moving of America: requests the building’s written requirements, issues matching COIs, books the elevator and dock, protects the common areas, and handles all packing, transport, placement, and setup.
We coordinate all of it on one calendar. If your building works with a specific leasing agent or concierge, we work through them. What we won’t do is leave a building requirement unconfirmed and let you discover it on move day.
A Certificate of Insurance Is a Permit, Not Paperwork
The COI is the document that surprises people. It isn’t a generic proof of insurance. It’s a certificate written to your building’s exact specifications: the building owner and management company named as additional insured, coverage limits the building sets, sometimes a specific certificate holder address, and often a deadline several business days before the move.
Getting it right is a matter of following specifications, not guesswork. We request the building’s sample COI or written requirements, issue the certificate to match line by line, and send it to management before their deadline. When two buildings are involved, we do this for both.
The mistake we see most often is an entity name that’s slightly wrong, such as a missing “LLC” or the management company listed without the owner. A doorman in Jersey City described it this way: “The truck was here, the crew was here, and the certificate had the wrong company on it.” A rejected COI means the truck waits at the curb, which is why we don’t treat “insured” and “approved by the building” as the same thing.
Your Real Move Date Is Your Building’s Move Window
You don’t move when the truck arrives. You move when the building lets you.
Many luxury buildings in Jersey City, Hoboken, Edgewater, Fort Lee, and Manhattan book freight elevators in fixed blocks, allow moves only on weekdays, block weekends and holidays, and set quiet hours. Manhattan co-ops and condos often require board or management approval of the move date. Rules vary from building to building, so confirm yours with management early.
This has a direct effect on your move. Your belongings have to go up within the approved window, not just on the approved day. We schedule the crew size, packing day, and truck arrival around the elevator block you were given, because running past the window can mean a second day and a second booking. Your Move Advisor asks for both buildings’ move policies at the survey, and those policies drive the move day schedule.
| Category | What it covers | Handling note |
|---|---|---|
| Fine art | Paintings, framed works, sculpture, mirrors | Wrapped or crated to size; handled by our art and antiques crew |
| Pianos | Grand, baby grand, and upright pianos | Measured against the elevator cab first; moved by our piano movers |
| Lighting | Chandeliers, sconces, statement fixtures | Taken down and crated by our chandelier movers |
| Wine | Cellar collections and wine refrigerators | Packed by bottle, temperature-aware; see our wine cellar movers |
| Statement furniture | Stone and glass tables, custom sofas, antiques | Disassembled when needed, with hardware bagged to each piece |
| Electronics | TVs, home theater, office equipment | Boxed in original or custom cartons, reinstalled at delivery |
| Wardrobe | Designer clothing, closet systems, shoes | Moved in wardrobe cartons, hung straight into your new closet |
Oversized appliances outside a full household move are covered by our appliance movers. If you’re downsizing from a larger home, our estate movers handle that part of the project.
Luxury residence moves are quoted from a detailed inventory and the rules at both buildings, not with an open-ended hourly rate. In a managed building, the time depends partly on elevator availability and move windows that we don’t control, and you shouldn’t carry that risk on an open clock. You get a written, all-inclusive estimate before anything is scheduled.
If the new kitchen is not ready when the old lease ends, equipment may need short- or long-term storage. Pricing depends on the equipment volume, storage duration, handling frequency, and any climate or security requirements. The scope may also include an extra transport leg, warehouse receiving, inventory tracking, and final delivery staged for reconnection.
A written estimate lists exactly what is moving, what is being crated, what each building requires, and what it all costs. Once you sign it, the price doesn’t change just because the elevator was busy or the dock was farther than expected.
That matters more in a luxury building than almost anywhere else, because you may be paying rent or carrying costs on two residences. A vague estimate isn’t a lower price. It’s an unpriced risk that shows up on move day.
Licensed carrier, not a broker: We operate under USDOT #1601312, MC #592337 , and NJ License #39PC00096600. Your move is performed by our own trained, background-checked crews and our own trucks, with no day laborers or subcontractors.
Building coordination in writing: You get a dated plan showing every COI, booking, and approval, and who is responsible for each, before the first truck is scheduled.
COI handled at both addresses: Building management receives certificates before their deadline, not the morning of the move. You can also request a certificate of insurance directly.
Family-owned in Ridgefield since 2007: We’re based in Bergen County and have been moving households into and out of North Jersey and Manhattan buildings for nearly two decades.
A single Move Advisor: One person handles your move from survey to final walkthrough, so you never have to explain your building’s rules twice.
Verified track record: Our reviews span Google, Angi, Houzz, and Facebook, and we hold an A+ BBB accreditation. We’re fully licensed, insured, and accredited.
We move luxury households across New Jersey, and local details matter as much as the inventory.
Hudson County: In Jersey City and Hoboken, waterfront towers have busy freight elevators, strict move windows, and limited curb space for trucks. Weehawken and West New York add riverfront buildings with long walks from dock to unit. Our Jersey City movers and Hoboken movers plan around all three.
Bergen County, Palisades: Fort Lee, Edgewater, and Cliffside Park high-rises often limit elevator bookings to weekday blocks, so the date is set by the building first.
Bergen County, estate homes: Alpine, Englewood, Saddle River, Tenafly, and Franklin Lakes moves often mean downsizing large homes with art and antiques into condos, so we plan what goes, what gets stored, and what fits.
Essex County: Short Hills, Millburn, Montclair, and Livingston combine large single-family homes with specialty items that require careful survey and handling.
New York City and beyond: Manhattan co-ops and condos often require board approval and weekday-only moves, and we coordinate both ends. We serve all of New Jersey and New York.
Don’t see your area? Call (201) 862-8000. If your luxury home is in New Jersey or New York, we can move it.
A Certificate of Insurance proves your mover carries liability coverage and names your building owner and management company as additional insured. Buildings require it to protect lobbies, elevators, and hallways. We issue it to match your building's exact requirements and send it to management before their deadline.
Yes. With your permission, we contact building management at both addresses, book the elevator and dock time, and confirm the service entrance. You receive a written summary of everything that was arranged.
For most luxury building moves, book 3 to 6 weeks ahead, and allow more time around the first and last days of the month or if board approval is required. The challenge is rarely truck availability. It's getting two buildings' elevator calendars to line up.
That depends on your building. Many luxury buildings allow moves only on weekdays during set hours. We confirm the rules at both buildings before we schedule, and if weekends are allowed, we'll book them.
We lay floor runners along the full route, pad the freight elevator, and guard door frames and corners at both buildings. Protection goes down before anything moves and comes up after the last item is placed, so the building's common areas are left the way we found them.
Luxury residence moves are priced from an inventory survey, not a phone quote. The main cost factors are inventory volume, specialty items, building access, move window limits, and packing scope. You receive a written, all-inclusive estimate before anything is booked.
Yes. Move-in and move-out dates often don't line up, and we plan for the gap. Your belongings stay inventoried in our climate-controlled Ridgefield facility and are delivered when your new home is ready, using the same inventory document from pickup.
Every luxury residence move starts with a survey, because an honest quote can’t come from a phone call and a guess.
