We chose Moving of America because of the good reviews, Joey the project manager was great, our local NJ pickup experience was genuinely excellent.. crew was professional, efficient, careful with our belongings, and overall gave us confidence that we had chosen the right company for our interstate move.

Unfortunately, the interstate portion of the move completely ruined that experience.

What we later discovered is that interstate moves are clearly not handled the same way as their local operations, despite being led to believe the move would remain within their own team. Once our shipment left NJ, communication, accountability, and overall professionalism changed.

By that point, Moving of America had already collected the majority of the payment, while the remaining balance was due to the company handling the delivery.

At delivery, the driver who was contracted out called me and said he didn’t think he could get into the neighborhood and that he would have to go and get a shuttle. I asked him how many guys he had, he indicated 2.. I said why don’t we use my own smaller moving truck instead, and the driver confirmed and to meet him a mile from our house with our truck.

Only after we arrived at the transfer point, no helpers were there- only the driver and at that point, we were informed for the first time that because we used our own truck, delivery labor was cancelled entirely. This was never disclosed beforehand. No revised agreement or change in scope was provided or signed. We were suddenly left responsible for unloading, unwrapping, and moving an entire household into our home ourselves after arriving in our new state only hours earlier with two young children.

The driver would not transfer the belongings into our truck until payment was made, despite the agreed delivery services no longer being performed as originally contracted.

Because everything remained wrapped at the transfer point, there was no realistic ability to inspect our belongings for damage there. After completing the move ourselves and removing the wrapping inside the home, before having to return all of the moving blankets because the driver said MofA would charge him if he didn’t return all of them, we discovered damage to a dresser and mirror.

What has been most disappointing is how the situation was handled afterward. Our move took place in February, and after more than a month of detailed back-and-forth communication attempting to resolve this professionally, the company ultimately stopped responding altogether. Multiple requests for the recorded phone call from the day of delivery were ignored. Formal complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, yet even after those filings there was still no meaningful effort to resolve the situation.

The only offer ever made was a $300 “goodwill” payment intended to cover both the damaged items and the significant delivery issues. Within the release documents for their “goodwill” offer you essentially waive your rights from later pursuing any public reviews related to your dispute and the company is not deemed responsible for anything, which is ironic because no responsibility was taken anyway. They provided no willingness to reasonably negotiate, no meaningful counteroffer, and no acknowledgment of the fact that the contracted delivery services were never actually completed.

This review is not being written simply because issues occurred during a move — things happen stuff can break. It is being written because of the lack of transparency, the last-minute change in delivery execution, the refusal to provide requested documentation, and the complete lack of accountability once the interstate portion began.

The local NJ team was genuinely very good, which honestly makes this even more disappointing. If you are considering Moving of America for an interstate move I genuinely hope your experience is much better then ours because our interstate experience was very different from what was represented upfront.

Why Scottsdale Is the Top Destination for NJ Relocators

    New Jersey residential storage

Scottsdale draws a specific type of mover to New Jersey. The household trades high Northeast taxes and winters for a luxury desert lifestyle, often as a primary home and just as often as a seasonal second home. Local movers in Scottsdale are familiar with these unique relocation needs. Arizona’s flat 2.5 percent income tax, no tax on Social Security, and property taxes that run roughly 0.5 to 0.8 percent of value make the financial case before the weather does.

The city is built around resort living, championship golf, and a deep roster of guard-gated communities, Silverleaf, DC Ranch, Desert Mountain, Troon, Estancia, where homes run from seven figures into the tens of millions. Many NJ buyers here are snowbirds setting up a winter base, not a one-and-done relocation.

Whatever the reason, the move crosses a state line, which makes it an interstate move under federal law. That changes how the job must be licensed, estimated, and insured, and it is where the risk hides. Many families opt for licensed movers in Scottsdale to ensure compliance and peace of mind. The fear we hear most is paying a deposit to a middleman who never owned a truck, only to watch the price climb at the time of delivery. Moving of America removes that by operating as the carrier on your move, the company that owns the trucks, employs the crew, and signs the binding estimate.

5 Key Reasons New Jersey Families and Businesses Choose Moving of America for the Scottsdale Route

A move from New Jersey to Scottsdale is not a job you want to hand to the wrong company. Anyone who has relocated across the country has heard the same warnings: a crew that showed up hours late, furniture that arrived scratched, or a final bill stuffed with charges nobody mentioned at quote time. We built Moving of America so Northeast families heading to the Sonoran Desert would not have to gamble on any of that. Here is how that plays out on the ground.

    1. We Actually Run the New Jersey to Scottsdale Corridor

We are not a franchise that hands your shipment off to whatever crew happens to be free that week. Moving of America is a New Jersey carrier that has moved households across the country for more than two decades. We know what a 2,400-mile haul across the I-40/I-17 corridor demands, from securing a load for days on the road to timing a foothills delivery around a guard-gated desert street. That is operational knowledge, not a sales pitch, and it is what keeps a cross-country move from falling apart in transit.

We do. We manage full relocations from anywhere in New Jersey to Scottsdale and the surrounding communities, including North Scottsdale, DC Ranch, Silverleaf, Troon, and Grayhawk. Wherever you start in the Garden State, we have a crew ready to get you there.
We are a New Jersey company through and through. No broker, no franchise, no handing your move to the lowest bidder. When you book your Scottsdale move with us, you get our own trucks, our own trained crew, and people who actually live and work in New Jersey.

    2. A Binding Price That Holds From Ridgefield to Scottsdale

The worst part of long-distance moving is the quote that changes at the door. That bait-and-switch is common on interstate routes, and it is one of the biggest complaints we hear from people who tried someone else first. We do it differently. Every interstate move gets a written, binding estimate. No fuel surcharge dropped on you at delivery. No long-carry or shuttle fee you never heard about. The number you sign in New Jersey is the number you pay in Arizona, full stop.

It depends on your total shipment weight, the distance, and the services you choose, such as packing, storage, or a foothills shuttle. Most 1 to 4 bedroom households land somewhere in the $4,500 to $12,000 range. We walk through all of it with you before you book, so nothing surprises you when your goods reach Scottsdale.
Never. A binding estimate exists precisely so extra charges cannot appear later. Labor, transport, equipment, the whole job is covered in the figure you approve up front. Nothing gets added at the end.

    3. Every Service You Need, All in One Place, Coast to Coast

A lot of long-distance movers just load a trailer and drive. We do a lot more than that. Moving of America handles packing and unpacking, furniture disassembly and reassembly, loading and unloading, and storage-in-transit when your Scottsdale move-in date does not line up with your New Jersey departure. Whether you are moving a one-bedroom apartment or relocating a full household into a guard-gated estate, we have the crew, the equipment, and the experience to handle it properly.

We offer full-service long-distance moving, which means we can take care of everything from packing your kitchen in New Jersey to reassembling your furniture in your Scottsdale home. Services include residential and commercial moving, packing and unpacking, furniture disassembly and reassembly, loading and unloading, and both short and long-term storage options.
Absolutely. A lot of our customers add packing on a long haul because it removes the biggest source of stress in the days before move day. Our team brings all the materials and handles everything carefully, including fragile items and the heat-aware wrapping a 2,400-mile desert route calls for.

    4. You Can Actually Trust the People Handling Everything You Own

This one matters more than most people think about when they are comparing moving quotes. On a cross-country move, one crew handles everything you own for days at a stretch, around your family and your most personal belongings. Every single person on our team goes through a background check and proper professional training before they ever step foot on a job. Moving of America is also a fully licensed interstate carrier (USDOT #1601312, MC #592337 ) and carries comprehensive liability and cargo insurance on every move. That protection runs from the first box loaded in New Jersey to the last one placed in Scottsdale, which is not something every moving company can honestly say.

Yes, fully. We hold the required state and federal interstate authority and carry liability and cargo insurance on every job we do. Your belongings are covered for the entire New Jersey to Scottsdale journey, from the moment we start loading to the moment we place the last box in your new home.
Every time. We do not use day laborers or subcontractors for our own operations. Everyone who handles your shipment has been background checked and trained by us. We take this seriously because we know you are trusting us with your whole household across the country.

    5. Our Track Record in New Jersey Does the Talking

We could write a lot about how great we are, but honestly the best proof is what our customers say. Moving of America holds hundreds of verified five-star reviews from real New Jersey families, renters, seniors, and business owners, including many who trusted us with long-distance relocations. People come back to us when they move again, and they refer us to their friends and family. That kind of loyalty does not happen by accident. It happens when a company consistently does what it says it will do.

We are really proud of our reviews, and the feedback keeps circling back to the same things: we showed up on time, we were careful with their belongings, and the price was exactly what they were told. That consistency is something we work hard to maintain on every single move, no matter the distance.
Honestly, it comes down to doing the basics really well. We show up when we say we will, we treat your home and your things with respect, and we do not hit you with surprise charges at delivery. Those things should not be rare in this industry, but they are, and that is why our customers keep coming back and keep referring us to people they care about.

What Moving of America Knows About Scottsdale That Most Movers Don’t

A Scottsdale move turns on three things a typical relocation never involves, and none of them is the distance. We plan for all three before your truck leaves Ridgefield.

Guard Gates Need a Security Manifest Filed Days in Advance

Scottsdale’s most desirable addresses sit behind guard gates:, Silverleaf, DC Ranch, Desert Mountain, Troon, Estancia, and the guard will not wave a moving truck through on the day. These communities require a security manifest to be filed roughly 72 hours in advance, often through a system like GateAccess.net, listing crew names, IDs, and vehicle plates.

Most also enforce truck-size limits at the gate and fixed move-in windows, typically weekday daytime hours. We pre-file the manifest, confirm the truck clears the gate dimensions, and reserve the move-in window during route planning. The result is a crew that drives straight through the gate instead of arguing with a guard while the meter runs.

Estate Homes Require Handling;, a Standard Crew Can’t Provide

Scottsdale’s custom estates come with travertine floors, imported millwork, fine art, and wine collections-, items where a single careless carry costs more than the whole move. High-value relocations here call for custom crating for art and sculpture, climate-controlled handling for wine and electronics, and non-marring floor and jamb protection from the front door to the last room.

This is also a consideration for desert heat. From late spring through early fall, temperature-sensitive pieces, wine, leather, and art should be loaded first and sealed in the trailer before the midday thermal peak. We brief every estate client on what needs to be created, climate protection, and priority handling before packing begins.

A Snowbird Second Home Is Its Own Kind of Move

Many Scottsdale moves are lock-and-leave second homes rather than full relocations, and gated communities treat them differently. DC Ranch, Troon Village, and similar communities enforce minimum lease terms, often six months, and restrict or prohibit short-term rentals, which shape how a seasonal owner can use the home.

A seasonal move also means coordinating delivery around your travel calendar and, often, an estate manager or property manager on the Arizona end. For snowbirds, hiring affordable Scottsdale movers can make this process even smoother. We schedule around your arrival, coordinate with on-site management, and use storage-in-transit when your New Jersey departure and your Scottsdale move-in don’t line up.

The NJ to Scottsdale Moving Step-by-Step Process

    Movers Loading
We survey your New Jersey home in person or over video and build a household goods inventory. Interstate moves are priced by weight and distance, so an accurate inventory is what makes the next step honest. This is where we identify items needing crating or climate protection.
We pre-file your community’s security manifest, confirm gate truck size limits and the move-in window, and lock your price in with a written, binding estimate. A binding estimate guarantees the price will not increase after you sign it, the strongest protection for a long route.
Our crew packs and labels your belongings according to the inventory list, with appropriate protection for high-value and heat-sensitive items. Each item is logged, so nothing is unaccounted for across 2,400 miles.
Your goods travel the southwestern corridor;, most loads run I-40 west through Oklahoma City and Albuquerque, then I-17 south into the Phoenix–Scottsdale metro, for a total of roughly 2,400 miles. Transit typically runs 5 to 8 business days, with winter weather over Flagstaff as the main seasonal variable.

We clear the guard gate using our pre-filed credentials, schedule summer unloads for the cooler early in the morning, unload against the inventory, and reassemble the furniture we disassembled. If your move-out and move-in dates don’t line up, as is common with a seasonal home, storage-in-transit holds your goods between them.

How Much Does a Move from NJ to Scottsdale Cost?

An interstate move is priced by total shipment weight, distance, and the services you select. For moves from New Jersey to Scottsdale, most 1–4-bedroom households typically see costs ranging from $4,500 to $12,000, with delivery in 5 to 8 business days depending on the size of the shipment and level of service. Working with ana NJ to Scottsdale moving company or cross-country movers NJ to Scottsdale ensures transparent pricing. High-value handling, such as custom crating, climate-controlled transit, or white-glove service for estate moves, is priced separately and discussed during your estimate. The binding estimate you receive is the price that governs your move from start to finish.

What Affects the NJ to Scottsdale Price

Weight is the primary driver, and every additional thousand pounds adds real cost. On Scottsdale moves, high-value handling matters too, as custom crating, climate-controlled transit, and white-glove protection for estate finishes add cost that an honest estimate accounts for up front, not at delivery.

Why a Binding Estimate Protects You on Interstate Moves

A non-binding estimate can be revised upward at delivery, the “price doubled” scenario that burns long-distance movers. Choosing insured movers in Scottsdale or full-service NJ to Scottsdale movers helps protect you from such surprises. A binding estimate locks the price before move day and cannot increase after you sign. Moving of America provides written binding estimates on interstate moves, so the figure you approve in New Jersey is the figure you pay in Scottsdale.

Your Federal Rights on Your NJ to Scottsdale Move

Moving of America long-distance movers loading a truck for an interstate relocation from New Jersey.

As an FMCSA-licensed interstate carrier (USDOT #1601312, MC #592337), Moving of America is required to provide every customer with specific federal protections:

    • The FMCSA “Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move” booklet is required by 49 CFR §375.213.
    • A written binding estimate before your move date.
    • A Bill of Lading on move day, your legal contract, and a receipt for the shipment.

You can verify our operating authority directly at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov by searching USDOT #1601312. A licensed carrier holds this authority in its own name; a broker does not.

Moving into a condo can get complicated with scheduling and elevators, but they handled it well. A bit of waiting here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Frequently Asked Questions About Moving from NJ to Scottsdale

Transit typically takes 5 to 8 business days over roughly 2,400 miles via the I-40/I-17 corridor. The exact window depends on shipment weight, scheduling, and season. Your binding estimate states the agreed delivery spread.
Most 1–4 bedroom households fall in the $4,500–$12,000 range, priced by total weight, distance, and services, with high-value handling priced separately. The only figure that governs your move is the written binding estimate.

Yes. These communities require that a security manifest, crew IDs, and vehicle plates be filed roughly 72 hours in advance, along with gate truck size limits and a reserved move-in window. We pre-file it all so the crew can clear the gate without delay.

High-value moves call for custom crating, climate-controlled handling, and white-glove floor protection. Confirm the specific handling your inventory needs during your estimate so the right protection and crew are scheduled.
Moving of America is a licensed interstate carrier (USDOT #1601312, MC #592337), not a broker. We own the trucks, employ the crew, and sign the binding estimate. Verify our authority at safer.fmcsa.dot.gov.
Yes. Storage-in-transit holds your household goods between your move-out and move-in dates, common with a seasonal second home when your arrival doesn’t line up with your New Jersey departure.
